Yesterday I took my retired folks to The Grand America Hotel. We wandered the lobby, by chance we saw some of the NBA Laker’s getting on their tour bus, and checked out the Christmas decor inside this gorgeous hotel. We had a nice time, a delicious lunch, AND were a bit worn out at the end of the outing. My parents and I each have our own chronic conditions to manage. We recognize that our bodies are more high maintenance these days. What used to be a quick drive and dash around to see the holiday lights and enjoy the festivities now takes a lot of extra time. We take slower steps, pay attention to our surroundings to avoid falls, paint liquid bandage on our fingertips/cuticles to protect our skin from “dry winter air cracking”, and enjoy activities like The Grand America holiday windows during a weekday to avoid the bustling crowds.
