On Sunday, December 15th, 2019, I submitted a testimonial to a hero of mine, Miranda Esmonde-White. In case you’re not familiar with her, this is from her website: Miranda developed her own fitness technique, Essentrics® in 1997, is a New York Times best selling author and is one of America’s greatest advocates and educators of healthy aging. Her fitness TV show Classical Stretch has been airing on PBS and Public Television since 1999.
Miranda is 70 years old, a retired ballerina and has maintained her lean physique! Needless to say, I am a huge fan. As my reader know, I partner with an amazing group of healthcare professionals to manage my chronic conditions. Following Miranda’s Classical Stretch routine has enabled me to strengthen and tone the muscles, tendons, and joints that were compromised before and after each of my hip replacement surgeries.
Miranda inspired me during the darkest days of my recovery. Watching her and participating in her fitness routines strengthened my resolve to age well and remain active. I strive to seek mentors and role models who have blazed the trail ahead of me. Miranda more than surpasses these expectations.
After submitting my testimonial this past Sunday I was astonished to receive a reply the following day from Allison Fraser, Miranda’s Marketing & Public Relations Director located in Montreal, Canada. Allison thanked me for submitting my inspiring story on the Essentrics® testimonial page and asked my permission to post it on their website! I honestly felt a bit light-headed and giddy reading this reply.
One more thing…I included a closing question when I submitted my testimonial. I asked if I might donate a signed copy of my book to share with Miranda, if only to further demonstrate my gratitude. I certainly have no intention to ride on the coattails of others and deeply respect each of the professionals who have assisted me on my journey to improved health. Allison acknowledged my request and wrote that she would be happy to accept a donated copy and would personally give my book to Miranda.
Hearing that my success story will be housed on the Essentrics® website is a great honor, Miranda has touched the lives of millions. I will share the link once it is posted! Today I shipped my book to Canada. As I wrote a personal dedication on the inside cover, I felt as though I was sending one of the most important gratitude gifts of my holiday season.
Writing my book helped me to process and grieve a difficult time in my life. The purpose of publication was to help others facing a similar path and assist caregivers, healthcare providers, and other interested parties about the challenges faced by joint replacement recipients.
Would you like an autographed copy of my book? Five lucky winners will be selected January 1, 2020 and receive a paperback copy of Butternut to Bionic: A Resource Guide to Hip Replacement Surgery. See more details about the contest in my Thirsty Thursday Wellness Blog (posted: 12/19/19).
