Closing August and the harvest theme I’m drawing readers back to my July 2016 newsletter where I wrote about nourishment from the garden. If you missed that edition you can find it posted on my website. For those who don’t have time or the space to garden, find an amazing farmer’s market near you. One of my favorite markets has operated for over 25 years and attracts a glorious variety of farmers and artisans. Eating local is great for the community, my wallet, and my digestive system. I’ve found that when I focus on eating fresh foods that are in season, and unprocessed, that I feel better. Some areas are considered food deserts – do your best with what you have available. Online purchasing can bring us amazing food – even if you need to choose freeze-dried or frozen – if your grocery store lacks quality produce.
To locate farmer’s markets in the US, the USDA has put together a website where you can search by zip code. See if you can connect with farmers in your region, visit the website here.
Be Well!
